Anyone else have the intake manifold of their 4.3L Gubment Motors/Mercruiser boat engine freeze?

A little Marine Tex epoxy and I'm back on the water.........................

Check your oil!    It will spray water into the crankcase after a spring oil change.

Only those on the Right like you allow their engines to freeze. Those on the Left have the intellect to have their engines winterized at Cathouse Marine.

Marine Tex is good stuff as it hardens like the handle of a screwdriver. I believe the chemist who discovered Marine Tex some years ago was a Socialist.

So we both can agree on Marine Tex.

How about a nice summer day?

How about the idiot engineers at Mercruiser?

How about blooming camellias, daffodills, and confederate jesimine?

There's no issue with General Motors as they design that motor to run on antifreeze so you can definitely blame Mercruiser, as far as marine Marine tex is concerned I would never trust that on internal engine parts just my thoughts, the manifolds is only 400 which is cheap insurance for the future!!

I'm with Jeff.  I don't think I would trust an entire engine to a patched internal water passage.  Good luck with that one.

There were two 2 in cracks.  Decided to weld using cast rods.  Put in oven.  Brought to 4oo degrees.

Welded across cracks.  Cracked upon cooling . Tested with air and some spray foamy stuff.   Had 24+ leaks.

Covered with Marine Tex.

Now I think I'd skip the welding, drill the ends of the crack, and apply Marine Tex.

My opinion is it will still be there when we are pushing daisies.  Success probably depends on surface prep and whether the crack runs.

Actually they use a volcanic rock to plug up the gates. I was over there on Tuesday. Before that they used a type of coal ash.
