Was there, saw the smoke, went over to see, what was going own. From, what was floating around in the crowd was there was an older Mastercraft, that had taken on fuel, and after cranking to leave the dock, a fire broke out on board. The passengers got back onto the peir and the boat, was pushed away from  the dock. It was a good thing the wind was blowing away from the dock. the burning boat was blown on to the bank away from the gas dock. This caught the woods on fire. The Ridge employee's did a great job containing the fire on the land, while the boat just burned, as far as I know the fuel onboard never exploded.

So that is what that was. I left Chucks around 12. 1:30 and saw that black smoke over at the RidgeNever thought much of it other than I noticed it.

Sad to know some one had a bad 4th but glad every one and thing was saved....

Other than the boat.

Boat burned to the water line and then sank in the middle of the slough. Windermere Fire Dept. and Ridge Marina employees tried to save it but was to far gone to save.

That explains the smoke we saw today over in the Parker Creek area.  I hate that someone lost their boat.

If you have an older boat and probably even if you don't you should check your fuel lines & tank at least at the season's beginning. I won the stupid award once in an older boat. I hadn't checked and returned to the dock one day with my young family and the boat wouldn't start. Thank God it didn't. I pulled the engine cover and there was gas in the bilge. It was a miracle we were not ka-poof.
