I don't think a higher winter pool would affect today's boat activity. COLD in Parker Creek with the northwest wind coming across the water. Waters are rough enough that I expect to see the film crew from Deadliest Catch any minute now.

I have had fishermen around my dock the last two days...I almost offered hot chocolate to the guy yesterday! Crazy people on the water this week!

It seems that many people are convinced that summer-like water levels in the winter would bring along summer-like weather and summer-like vacation and school schedules.
And a few people are convinced that a higher winter pool would convince both Alabama and Auburn to build stadiums at the Amphitheater, where they would both play all of their home games.

The short memories of people is bothersome to me. Think back to 2007, when the drought hit in the winter of 2006, and the lake dropped to 478' in February, and never reached 486' in June of '07 before heading to 475', 15 feet down, in November '07. The real reason for raising the lake in winter is so it will fill in spring, even during a drought. Fact is we need higher pool to prevent further business losses and closings like we had in '07. Boat usage at higher winter pools will increase over time as habits change, but that's not the real reason for needing a higher pool. Sometimes we have very short memories.

No, not a short memory at all. I said all along that I had mixed emotions about the possible change. But watching my grandkids play pirate ship, etc on the floating dock during Thanksgiving was a vote for the current plan. I am in favor of 483, but the arguments for more boating and waterside businesses does not hunt. Having the 483 as February starting point would be beneficial. BTW, I offered a reply to the FERC license discussion "in favor" of 483.
But water level is determined more by weather than by license.
