Short answer from what I have read is that a towable rope broke at a terribly wrong time and the youngsters were thrown into a stationary object of some sort.  Will not venture beyond that.

Privacy reasons for the family and the medical situation is what I've been told (and I certainly understand). I've heard that there is some improvment in a critical situation, but that is second hand information that I can't verify....sure hope it's true.
