Many years ago, when I was a teenager,  I remember going to the "Gold Mines".  I'd like to take my grand-daughters but I cannot remember the location.    My recollection is that it was a popular gathering spot with a rope swing and a deep, wooded slough. Can anyone direct me to the location and offer any history about the spot?  Thanks.

The 'Gold Mine' is located at Razorback Ridge on the North West end. I believe the property is owned by the Shaw family from Birmingham. It is now closed to the public and is 'posted'. The Kidd family owns a lot of the land adjacent to the gold mine and they are developing that area.

There are about 12 gold mines around the lake. Some underwater.

Did you want to pan for gold?  I had one my land.  A couple panned for  day and did not half of minimum wage.
