I noticed my volt meter is reading 16 to 18 volts this week. I believe it used to read about 14 volts last year. My motor is a Yamaha 90

4-stroke. Battery is good with clean connections.

Get a portable voltmeter and read across the battery with motor running.

Even 15 volts will boil a battery dry if the hydrogen doesn't explode first.

Tap the gauge.  Anything much over 14.4 volts is a problem.

Hi volts will be an alternator regulator problem.  Get it fixed now.

History was made today. Shortbus and I agree.

A fully charged battery will read 12.6 volts (2.1volts per cell).
