Spotted Bass are stacked up in the creek channels chasing bait. Caught 20 in less than 3 hrs in Sandy Creek yesterday. It's been pretty good for the last 3-4 weeks. Anybody else got any reports?

When you say creek channels are you referring to sloughs that run off the main channels and with the water being down, what is the approcimate depth where you are fishing? If you are willing to share your experience, what lures and fishing techniques were you having the best luck with(trolling, casting from your boat, etc.)?

Fishing in 30-35 ft of water trolling shad colored crank baits that run from 8-15 ft. deep. Have caught a few on a jigging spoon as well. Run the major creek channels with your depth finder and look for bait and fish marks.

Thank you very much for taking the time to provde the information on your fishing experience. Your level of fishing is well beyond my basic fishing level, but again thanks for sharing. Wouldn't it be great if more peole could get out and enjoy the wonderful opprtunities that our great country provides? At 79 years of age, it is really sickening to see the level of decline that is happening in our Society today. I only wish there was some "magic" way to unite our country and realize the many "blessings" we should be thankful for!!!!!!!!

We had an awsome day Thursday catching spots and a couple of stripes. As above post, in the creek channels. Found them with crank baits and when on top of the school of fish, verticle jigging with 1/2 oz spoons. We caught 2 limits of spots in 45 minutes, Probably caught 50 by 10:30 when we came in. Love this time of year. My jigging spoons can be bought at Lake Martin Trading Company off Hwy 34 (holiday shores) or at Bert's tackle shop in wetumpka.

Jim, all the fish I'm catching are 10-12 inch in size. Any suggestions on finding bigger fish? Are your better ones coming off the jigging spoons? I haven't put the time in on that technique.

Sometimes it is a numbers game. The smaller fish are the most active at first. If fish are suspended, the larger ones are typically below main school. When the school is in a feeding frenzy, hard to tell sizes. We were catching fish up to 2 lbs out of schools but most were in the 12 -16 inch variety. You can also move off of the school and keep jigging to draw the bigger fish off the fringe. Try going to a larger Jig, (3/4 or 1 oz). I have also used a tiny fluke on a 1/8 or 1/4 oz jig head (matching the hatch) as a change up tactic
