After reading Lakebums post I decided to take the practice exam. I scored 76% and was completely bumfuzzeled. I have always been a safe boater but I didn't know I knew so little. I will take the course and retake the exam hopefully with better results. I wonder if that little kid was out of my slough. I have seen a pontoon boat with the kids on the front with their legs hanging off many times traveling at a high speed.

I passed my test at the DMV but I made a 68% on the test on the computer. Man, I felt stupid, it is tricky.

Most of the boating courses that I know of have several instructors that cover different areas of boating. They cover the laws and such but also a lot of other helpful info. You're also allowed to ask questions if you don't understand something. You will learn far more than just reading a manual and taking a test. I don't know how I ever passed the test before I took the course. I must have had some "lucky" guesses!
