I can't help but notice several references to someone called "Sally". Am I missing something?

Sally used to be the resident spelling/grammar checker for this forum. She didn't have a lot of posts, but she left quite a big impression.

I'm an English teacher..and I've been good.
Or would it be I am a English teacher?
No contractions The 'a' modifies teacher...not English so you do not have to use the article 'an' because it does not modify English, which begins with a vowel.
WTF?

That's the first I've heard of this rule. Are you sure it's correct?

Maybe, I didn't explain well. Let me give examples instead:
You wouldn't say " a apple"
You would say, "an apple."
Use AN, not A, before a noun beginning with a vowel.
An aunt - not a aunt. An ant - not a ant. An example - not a example. An excellent interview - not a excellent interview -
take out the adjective EXCELLENT and it would still be an interview. "An" modifies interview. It is an article. Not A ARTICLE. (part of speech) But sometimes the article modifies the adjective, not the noun. And if the noun began with a vowel, but the adjective didn't, then "A" would be correct. But I can't think of an example right now.

Well, I guess my original example would be a good one:
I am a English teacher. I am a teacher. What kind? English "A" modifies teacher - not English. Therefore,"a" would be correct...but doesn't it SOUND better to say AN ENGLISH teacher? ( I guess because AN is so close to ENGLISH and not teacher)
Againg, WTF?
