What do you mean, "no gossip"? About others or the book (devulging info about either)?

My book club has rules, too. One classic, one non-fiction, etc. I really don't like my book club. It's not deep enough for me. Chat is on the surface. I want to delve into the why's and symbolism of the read.

I don't belong.

No gossip about people. anything we say should be something we would say if they were there. I We really delve into the books and it can be really interesting the directions it can take us. I think one of the things that makes our club successful is our diversity. I'm sure my daughter would laugh at that one. We are all white, middled class and in our 50's.
By diverse, I mean our religions, upbringings, education, politics, and jobs. We had one member who celebrated her 50th birthday by hiking the Appalachian Trail for 2 months. I was content to read "A Walk in the Woods".
I do go on, don't I? We are coming to Lake Martin to look for property next month. The hardest part about moving will be finding a new book club and a new hair dresser!

Great area... we considered buying property around Wilmington before LM years ago but too far from Atl and family. Why are you wanting LM property?

I think I'm getting senile. I think I asked this before...... I remember now... Southern roots. But I guess the question is you live in a great area for retirement now...??

This is a great area for retirement but we are wanting to be closer to family. I will miss the ocean and being here during the "off" season is the best.

Off-season at the beach is always best.
