What , if anything, can stop the lake from continued dropping if we don't get meaningful rain? How low could it go? 475?? 470???

but 470-474 sure sounds possible. Even normal summer rains now are only going to help so much. The only thing that could significantly really help right (other than tropical storm) is for the COE to give permission to release less water, but that does not sound like it's going to happen.

I talked to a few friends at lake Saturday that had no clue that lake was likely headed to winter type levels. They were both grateful to hear since they had no plan to protect their boats and PWC's.

Funny - I ran across the same thing with a neighbor as well. My wife asked whether APCO planned to let everyone know their plans. Ummm, no. It's public information, and anyone who has been to the lake may have noticed that the water is a tad low. If they have docking issues and care two hoots about their boat, etc. they'll take the 5 minutes to find out the answers. Heck, call APCO if needed.

Just another example of folks getting used to a "dumbed-down" version of our society where everyone else is responsible for looking out for you. Crazy.
