This fall if we start getting heavy floods that fill the lake up say by Thanksgiving - would the Power company "roll the dice" and only make the minimum releases to insure a full lake by next year late spring.

I doubt it. They seem to be determined to keep dropping the level regardless of how much rain we get. I go over the river on 229 downstream of Tallassee everyday. In the mornings the river is down and every afternoon it is way up and moving fast. Every day lower pond is up to the top of the dam.

That wont happen unless it is a flood of historic magnitude. APCO is given a graph of what the level is to be on a day to day basis with allowances for heavy rain but it is kept at +/- 10%. If we were to get a flood the water would be released downstream as fast as possible to get to the designated level for the apropriate time. They can seek and usually will be given variances in drastic situations, but I don't see any way that the lake would stay full from T'day till spring. The lowering is so that they have flood control capabillities with the spring rains.
