Has the ownership at Chuck's changed in the last couple of years and who is the owner? Thanks
|
No it has not changed owners. His name is Greg ??. I just forgot his last name. Senoir moment. He is a super nice guy and very customer service oriented.
|
Their names are Jane and Greg Garrett. No- They added the dry storage and they have a sub lease for a new company (I think they are all from New Jersey) that are running their maintenance program. Met them a few weeks ago. REally nice people. This coming weekend is the opening of the wine bar. It looks really cool. We got an early tour. : )

FBG his name is Greg Harris I think. If I'm wrong I will admit it.
|
It's Garrett
|
Well I could be wrong, but that would mean Jane did not take Greg's name when they married a few years back. Her e-mail is Jane Garrett
|
Janes maiden name was Garrett and she still uses her old e-address. Their last name is Harris and she does go by Harris. Sorry! this should clear things up. Thanks Lakeman.

greg is probably the nicest and most kind hearted person I have ever met. I got to know him through a friend right after I bought my lake house. I had a boat problem and called him to see if he could send a mechanic over. He came over himself and spent a couple hours fixing it and would not take a dime no matter how much I insisted. He said stop by and fill up your boat when you are in the area or order a pizza. Ever since then I always buy my gas from him and will call and order a pizza to pick up and take on the boat.

No problem FBG. Also I would like to make a donation For the youth ranch. I'm not any good at making up gift bags. The Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranch's and the American Cancer Society are my favorite donation recipients.

I was designated driver for 'girls weekend bunch' a few years ago. We stopped at Chuck's and one of the ladies wanted a cup of coffee. They didn't have coffee pot in the store or bar, but Greg went to his house, brewed a pot of coffee and brought out one of his personal mugs so the lady could have her coffee. He refused money for the coffee and stated he would buy a coffee pot for the store/bar so next time we came in and wanted coffee it would be available. I try to get by there and patronize him every time I am in that area.

It funny because I thought I was loosing my mind. I was corrected a year ago from caller Jane Jan . Then I thought their last name was Harris, but received an e-mail that said Garrett. Now I'm finally on track! They have never corrected me. They are just such a sweet couple! I hope the wine bar is a big success for them. This last year was hard on the businesses on the lake.

Everyone needs to do all their business at Chucks. Greg and Jane are great people. Ask them for a glass of the Chilean wine. I travel internationally and brought them a few bottles. Greg takes care of my girlfriend while I'm on the road with fuel and oil in her pontoon boat and I will go thousands of miles out of my way to make sure they have whatever wine in their new bar that anyone may want to sample. Just great old school people. You scratch their back and you will never have a problem that they can't solve on the lake. We live on the lake and could not ever ask for better friends.

You can call them Greg & Jane, Harris or Garrett or Chuck. They will answer. Great neighbors, friends and the best people on the lake to do business with. They are the owners but we all know who's really the boss! Sometimes the four-legged boss will come out to greet you. The luau is this Saturday night and they are doing this for us, the customers. A celebration for what we all missed last summer. Our family plans on being there to also celebrate a homecoming. Youngest son arrives home Saturday morning from 6 month deployment in Afghanistan. What does he want to do? Go to Chuck's Saturday night!!!!

.The wine bar opening is not this weekend! Sorry folks. This weekend is the Kickoff for Karaoke on the deck - May 3rd at 8 pm. with Rod and Martha. Some of the Busweiser Girls are coming to promote their new product called Landshark Lager. Wear Hawaiian - Luau theme. Free landshark leis and other Bud products while they last. The new marine mechanics are Mark Kosmak and Greg Hunter. Their business will be called Clearwater Marine. Mark has been in the Lake Martin area for 22 years and hails from California. Greg Hunter is coming from San Diego CA. So they are not from New Jersey. Combined they have 35 years of marine mechanic experience. Sorry guys. We can now mark our calendars. June 7th is the poker Run and Art Show. Sounds like a lot of fun for the next month!

Greg mentioned to us last week that he had been at the lake for 16 years now. I didn't realize he'd been here that long. Super nice guy, does his best to keep the gas prices as low as possible, and always ready to assist anyone. It's great that the lake is up again and his business is improving. Last year was tough, I'm sure. Well, except for boat storage, lol.
