...and I just wanted to say that I practically grew up on Smith Lake. I am now 28 and just visited the lake last year for the 1st time in around 10 years. My, how it has changed and stayed the same all at the same time. So much development has taken place and yet, the water is still as beautiful.
I can remember my mom and dad looking at lots and debating moving to Smith Lake 20 years ago. I sure wish they had because it would be worth so much now.
I found this forum while looking for a place to stay for a weekend later in July. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate your input. As of now, I am looking for something close to Double Springs in order to be on the less crowded side of the lake.

..for a weekend in July near Double Springs, I can think of at least two possibilities. First, the Lakeshore Marina (on 278 between mile markers 47 and 48) --nice big motel rooms with small kitchen, a sitting area, and a porch on the lake; fairly reasonable prices too. The other is a lake house rental throught Smith Lake realty.
