MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The man convicted of murdering a Montgomery police officer two years ago learned his fate Thursday. Circuit Judge Truman Hobbs, Jr. overrode the jury's recommendation and instead gave Mario Woodward the death sentence.

Mario Woodward now knows he won't have much space to walk around from now on because pretty soon he'll be confined to a 5 by 8 cell for 23 of the 24 hours each day with no human contact. And, that's just the way District Attorney Ellen Brooks wanted it. "I'm emotional simply because justice was done today and it's been two years coming."

EXCELLENT! This SOB deserves to die!
I stood on at attention and watched Officer Houts entire procession. As far as I am concerned, let him rot and no one claim his corpse for all eternity. In my mind, there will NEVER be a reason why Officer Houts died at the hands of this piece of sh!t. Make it a speedy death so he and his rotten family cannot steal any more of my tax dollars.

I agree 100%. I wonder which jurors would not give him the death sentence to start with.

The officer killed didn't get to have his fate determined by a jury of his peers. His life was just taken. Seems like the death penalty was deserved in this case.
