I'm new to the lake and am curious about cycling groups. Are there any organized rides for road bikes or mountain bike trails to ride. I ride here at home about 125-150 miles a week on the road and when I get to the lake would like to combine the enjoyment of cycling with lake living. Any information is appreciated.

For the fat tire gig - try Oak Mountain State Park just south of B'ham - about 16.25 miles (back when I used to ride), mix of single and two track - big fun.

Cat, you are correct. This thread sunk as fast as a rock in the lake. So, if anyone sees a road bike rider in the lake area riding solo after May 1, that's me. I guess there are no more cyclist there.
I'll try and think up some more inspirational questions - but none about restaurants or boat detailing.

We are avid road cyclists, and visit LM every summer. Last year we rode a fantastic route in the Windemere area. Lots of steep climbs, about a 20 mile loop route. The year before we rode in the Blue Creek area. The rodes are great, just choose a route and start riding, if you'll be there at the end of July, you can ride with us.

if you want a challenge, and it sounds like you can handle it, take your bike on some of the 4 wheeler trails. I rode oak mtn for years and when i rode the trails around the lake it was tough. even riding the logging roads down to the lake is a great ride.
