or is an hour of Letterman and 5 Sunday talk shows this week featuring Obozo a little over the top. What next, will he be selling Sham Wows and Slap Chops during NFL halftime shows?

-It may be you, ..because some people cannot get enough of him. But then again, maybe it's not you, cuz alot of people have had too much of him (I can hear MM now, ''there's those wishy washy independants again!")
-But none of that's the point.
-have you heard anything lately about those who were protesting at teh townhalls? are there any other venues for those people to be heard?
-After Jimmy saying everyone that doesn't agree is a racist, and most of teh MSM plastering his words everywhere and agreeing with him, where will the protests be heard?
-The important part of what you say above is that ,,,Obama is everywhere! ...that's all people hear now. After awhile that is all they will remember.
-A new healthcare bill will be passed before teh holidays. The public option will probably not be in it, ..but I believe will be added on later, ...almost everything else I don't believe in will be left in. This will make almost all teh dems happy. So teh dems in congress win.
-The repubs, getting rid of teh public option (if only temporaritly) will appear like winners to most of their constituencies, especially the insurance companies. So the repubs in congress win.
-Who loses? My take is that the bottom line is that, based on my knowledge of teh Brit and Canadian systems, most of the hard working people in teh middle will eventually get screwed: those making more than $200,000 +/- will definitely pay most of the financial bill; and ...seniors will pay most of teh "care" bill.
-so is he on teh air too much? ...not for how history will see it if the MSM writes the history, for then history will read that congress was unable to pass healthcare, Obama then addressed congress, then Obama went to the people, people cheered him, congress saw the light, congress passed the bill that Obama wanted for the people.

Elections have consequences and many times it involves snake oil. The Democrats have total control, so whatever passes, they own it.

The more face time he receives, the more his approval ratings suffer it seems. Coincidence or not, the lower ratings do provide cover for the blue dogs who are very concerned about holding onto their seats and rightfully so, after this ACORN fiasco.

In your post on this thread you said "The public option will probably not be in it, ..but I believe will be added on later, ...almost everything else I don't believe in will be left in." Is there anything in the bill that you do believe in? Just wondering as most posts on most forums I have read are about what people are against and not much about what people are for. As an example, should insurance companies be allowed to deny enrollment due to pre-existing condition? Should insurance companies be allowed to cancel coverage. Should the insurance companies be allowed to determine what treatments will be covered? Should there be a maximum benefit payout afterwhich the insurance can cancel? Etc.

be directed at managed care companies? Some yes, but Obama was deceitful in his portrayal of indidents in his joint address.

4691,
-Health Care is a big issue. But to answer your questions above, I beleive that every American citizen should be able to get good health care services in this age. I believe that the main thing that must be done is insurance reform.
-Insurance companies should be able to make a reasonalbe profit, and this profit should be determined by the market. The government's role is to make sure the playing field is even, legally and criminally, after that, stand aside and let market competitiveness do the job.
-In addition to making a profit the insurance companies must provide a good product. To me the product should include transference from job to job, no dropping in the middle of an illness, etc. Our present hodgepoge of medical services takes care of teh rich (they can pay for whatever they need), the poor (Medicaid pays for what they need) , the elderly (Medicare pays for what they need), the young (SCHIP pays for what they need), etc. The people who get screwed under the present system are the middle class people who get seriously ill; their insurance companies drop them or don't pay, then these people have to go bankrupt to qualiy for assistance.
-I believe somewhere in this country we could get a group of reasonable, impartial minds (leaves out politicians) to streamline this system without handing over more power to a government that has proven several times over that it can't fiscally manage anything.

Yankee06 - Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I have been struggling with this issue. It is not an easy one. Recently I read that the average cost of insurance was approximately $13,000 per year for a familly. That number is in line with the what the self-insured company that I work for reported that it spent per employee last year. The answer is not as simple as making sure everybody has access to an affordable plan whatever that is defined as. The costs have to be controlled to make an affordable plan possible. There is justification for all to be very concerned (even if some in congress can't understand what all the fuss is about).

Council Roc Doc - That example is certainly not a good one for Obama to use; especially embellished into an exaggerated lie. On the other hand, it is not a good example for the insurance companies to tout either. When the man became sick the first step by the insuracne company was recission. If I get sick I don't want to have my insurance canceled requiring me to beg the help of the state Attorney General.
