I know... I hate it..  the lake is so pretty when it is at full pool, a shame they can't keep it up at least until October, when summer is officially winding down...

As hot as it has been lately ,other than being sad about 8 tenths (at this hour) down, I am rejoicing about 4.2 feet above winter level.

Alabama Power does not begin drawing the lake down from summer pool until the end of September. If you click on the lake level on the home page you will see the lake level schedule. We have two more months.

Thanks, I'm quite familiar with the homepage.

If YOU will click on the boxes for the years back to "05" you will find that the lake is actually at or about normal for this time of year especially when rainfall or lack of is figured in. Hover over the year and the reading for that year will turn red. Point was that, at the time of my previous post, the lake was only eight tenths( approx.10 inches) of a foot below full pool thereby making it 4.2 feet above winter level. Ive seen it much lower at this time of year during the 20 years we've had our place on the lake

Its HOT, power usage is up and the water is used for power generation.

I prefer, once again, to rejoice in the fact that the water is more than 4 feet above winter level than be sad about it being less than a foot below summer level.

I tend to see a glass of water as half full other than half empty.

I'm an optimist.

10-4 to that. One only has to look back 2 or 3 years ago and we were down close to winter level at this time of year. Although it took longer than usual to raise the water to summer levels this year, we have had, and still have, good water this summer. As long as we are within a foot or two of full pool, I am happy.

I  try to have the half full mentality also but at the rate its dropping the lake will
only be half full by the middle of next week .  So thinking positive I guess thats better than

the lake being empty .

Yes we have 2 more months but no water. I had to pull my boat out this morning. Im sure its due to the lack of rain but the power co is going to generate power at all cost and dont care if we can float a boat or not with no reguard for  wilelife or the condation of the lake or the people that spend there hard earned money to buy shop and live there on the water.

Is what it is but it isn't the end of civilization as we know it.

I also may have to pull my pontoon boat this weekend but can honestly say I will still enjoy going to the lake ,watch my grandkids play in the water, possibly do a bit of fishing, see the sun rise over Coosa Island and visit with the friends Ive made there over the years.

As I sit here in this air conditioned building (requiring electricity) and type on this computer ( also requiring electricity) I surely am thrilled that APCO is generating all that power and that they built that dam several years ago, creating the lake we all enjoy so much.

Thats all well and good but it would be nice if we could have summer lake levels for more than 8 wk out of the yr . No matter what the issue are everyyear Logan Martin gets the shallow end of the water  I guess I should not complain I should take my boat and my business elswhere.

"I guess I should not complain I should take my boat and my business elswhere." Nothing at all wrong with complaining, its human nature to do so. I do my share of it. The thing is, this year is nothing new or especially out of the ordinary and before any of us came to Logan Martin I figure we knew what we were buying into, or inheriting on my part, and still chose to invest time and money on our places there. If I were unhappy and failed to see the good and fun things about my place there I would sell out in a New York Second. Trust me, Logan isnt my favorite lake, I prefer lakes that have more log jams, weeds and nice quiet sloughs. I like to fish such places, places where I am not fishing in someones backyard but I cant afford to move, I have outstanding lake neighbors, my kids and grands love our place ,its perfect for them and I love seeing them and my wife enjoy themselves there. Therefore I tend to look more at the good than the bad and although Logan isnt the type of water I prefer to fish, I still enjoy fishing there and have had some success. Who knows what the next day, months or year will bring in the way of water levels on Logan but I will be glad that we still have a place to go, relax and enjoy.I should include work, I have often called our place My Second Job LOL

As they say, "anyone who is lucky enough to have a house on the water, is lucky enough". Yes, I complain too, about a lot of things in and around Logan Martin. But I do feel lucky in being able to sit on my back deck and see a mile of water. And many other things too. And many, many people would change places with us in a heartbeat. I think I'll stay here and enjoy the place for a while.
