Subject:   Dam break near Elkahatchee

My parents were at the Lake Tuesday and said they believe a dam broke on a creek feeding into an arm of Elkahatchee Creek. Logs and mud filled the slough and sank at least one boat. They heard a roar prior to the water level coming up. Has there been any info about this in the paper or has anyone heard about this?

I am surprised no one responded to your post. Do you have additional information or updates?

I don't have any details, but I can tell you that the water was extremely high when we arrived on 7/7/05. The water was very murky and filled with debris the whole weekend. It's usually not like that since we are at the south end of the lake, so I would not be surprised if a dam break did occur. I just assumed it was high because of tropical storm Cindy. On Friday, the water had been let down about 6 inches, but the debris remained.
