Last weekend (Saturday) when we rode by the eagle's next near Chimney Rock, both nests were there - the newer one in the tall pine and the older, bigger one in the dead tree. Today (Saturday, 16th) we rode up there again, and the older tree has fallen and the large nest is gone. Did this happen with the storms here this week? Just curious. We hated to see the big nest gone.

Thanks, but the eagle's nests aren't on Chimney Rock island, - they are on the next island up from there, and there was no fire on the eagle's island. There are several trees half broken down though, including the one that held the largest eagle's nest and it looks like they came down in the recent storm.

Was by on Sunday. New nest looked fine. Two eaglets? were sitting on a limb below the large nest. Did not see any parents.
