Well, it's finally hitting bottom at my place (River's Edge marina). I gave up on trying to launch the Glastron, & went for my 14' bass boat instead. It only sits about 18" in the water. The marina launched it with a tractor, but I bottomed out at the end of the ramp... I hit a berm created by boat wash from years of use. The marina is calling all of the houseboat owners, & telling them to come raise their props - they are going to be sitting on bottom in a few days. They were hauling out all of the V-hull cruisers so they don't lay on their sides. I guess I'll have to let go of summer now... the fat lady sang.

I launched from there on Saturday (in the rain). I have a Malibu Tantrum. Didn't have any problems, stayed to right of the buoy going out of the marina. Made it all the way to close to the cliffs (home). Luckily enough I got behind a bass boat going through that stretch near Powells Hideaway. It's a wee bit tricky through there. Took the boat back late yesterday afternoon and had to queue up to get my boat out. I stirred up some mud just puttin around waiting for my trailer. I said in an earlier post - it's gonna be a mud puddle if the water goes down 2 more feet.

I had your phone # written down on a piece of paper but left it at home.

Don't know 'bout you but I have a hard time with the name River's Edge. Rabbit Branch is such a great name and it's nowhere near the "river". Of course I still call Compass Central sometimes.......so that tells you how my brain works (or doesn't as the case may be).

Rabbit Branch kinda rolls off your tongue - I have to stop & think River's Edge before I type or say it. The marina will be nothing but pasture again if they draw down to 458 1/2 like they say. My sonar showed the depth at the ramp at just over 2 feet. My cell # 369-8957. We'll be there on & off for a few more weekends. You have more nerve than I do - I didn't attempt to reach the cliffs.

We Launched at Lakeside and came all of the way to my next door neighbors pier and prctically just hopped out of the boat and left it floating in the middle of the slough and then just walked back out to it when we left and gave a push toward deeper water.

We rode from the Dam all the way past Stemley Bridge about 3 miles or so without a problem. The only part that I was concerned with is when you get past goat island going away from the dam or civic center where the buoys are in the water I always swing very wide through there because even when the water was 2-3 ft deeper my depth gauge would read 2ft in some spots if i came too close to the buoys.

We will be back for a few weeks except when the Alabama vs FSU game is and Talladega Weekend might be close to the last weekend but we will see.

To me I just have to be more creative to launching the boat and where to park when I want to get a bite to eat or take a break.

Nobody on the water = Great boarding for us.

Oh and by the way I call BS on just about every Rumor that is floating around out there.

The lake did not drop 2ft by Wed.

Its not APCO fault its the Corp of Engineers. BS!

Its the Corp of Engineers fault because they are not letting any water out of the Georgia lakes. BS - Altoona is 10ft below full because of whatever happened with Gov Riley lawsuit.

What rumor have you heard that seems to be BS at this time today?????

I don't think it's a surplus of nevre - it's more like a lack of brains.

MovinFr8:
The section near goat island is the one I was talking about - up to the bend at Powells Hideaway. You've got to know where to zig and and where to zag.
