I remember a few years ago term limits for Congress were a big issue in the campaigns. Then amazing enough after the elections the discussion about term limits went away. Does anyone remember what year it was? I was thinking it was in the late 80's or early 90's but I could be wrong. It would be a good way to get rid of professional politians but the down side would be that we would have to give more retirements to more under their rules.

Term limits, much like the Contract with America, died for lack of political courage.
I'm sure our founding fathers did not envision career politicians possessing a lust for lavish compensation and unfettered power… all the while applying situational ethics and insensitivity to their constituents and the founding documents.
