Great Editorial in the DECATUR DAILY this AM. When food stamps are sent out, this article should be sent to every recipient. Also, unemployment should only be greater than 26 weeks if the individual is participating in some type of training program. An unemployment check is not a vacation check. If a blind person can work, so can millions of healthy Americans without a disability.

Morgan courthouse vendor impressive

Neal Eastep turned his blindness into the opportunity to run his own business rather than letting it become a barrier.

Since 2006 he has been the snack bar vendor at the Morgan County Courthouse. Born with glaucoma, his vision was totally gone by 1992. He sought to deal with his condition by bettering himself through the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services. Eastep enrolled in the Business Enterprise Program and learned to become a vendor at E.H. Gentry Technical Facility in Talladega.

Today, he’s comfortable with running his business and knows his customers by the sound of their footsteps. Courthouse customers say they admire the personal attention he gives. One customer called him an asset to the courthouse. Eastep should serve as a model and encouragement for others, especially during a stressed economy.

Eastep leaves a lasting impression.

Mr Estep exercised hope and change in the manner in which it was intended, he is less handicapped than an entitled person.

Entitlement programs promote (reward) indigence.  The culture of entitlement is the detriment!

Entitlement is devouring the spirit and stamina of the working and entrepreneurial class.  Ha Ha… the joke is on them.  When they finally kill the golden goose they will starve to death in their own meaningless anarchy.
