Is it illegal for fishermen to tie up to a private pier to fish? I know people can fish around piers all they want.

I looked on Google but did not find anything. We have fishermen get in our boat house and get out of the rain, which is Ok with me. I know that I would not do it but a fisherman I work with said that he thought it was legal but was not sure.

It is really called treaspassing, the dock or pier is the property owners property. but to tie up may be just what it is tied up. As long as the person theirself doesn't step onto the pier or dock or damge it I don't think there is a law covering tempory tieing to pier or dock. Check with the Local Marine Police to make sure before you act on this.

Since when did you buy a lake for $250 dollars?? Your permit only allows you to build a dock on PUBLIC waters regulated by Alabama Power. It still belongs to the Corp of Engineers

It is considered trespassing for any person or persons to tie up to a private pier without getting the owner's permission. I checked with the sheriff!!!
