Has anybody at LM had luck using them to pick up local stations? I'm a Dish user and am looking for an alternative to pick up channel 12 or some other NBC affiliate. Even when Dish & Raycom get together, it would be nice to have a backup in bad weather signal loss periods.

Have they not made a deal yet? Sorry, I cannot help with the antenna question. My terrain and huge pines block any connection to Montgomery. Wait, that might be a good thing.

Yes I use one. In my area (which is kinda in a valley) I get 12, 8, PBS, 32 sometimes and 20.
It's nice to have true a true HD picture instead of the the over-compressed satellite or cable video.

This is a question for anyone who might know....our cabin is on the lower elevation of our property, and the part of the property near the road is probably 20-30 feet higher than the cabin. To gain the best line-of-sight signal, the antenna mast and antenna should be up near the road, making the signal cable run about 150-200 feet.
Here's the question: would I need a signal amplifier if I put an antenna up top, and if so would the amplifier have to be by the antenna or down near the cabin? Would the cable type be RG-6 or something else? What other question(s) should I be asking?

If it works, how hard would it be to run to LNG's place?

Amplifier goes on the antenna pole, right up close to the top near the antenna. Power supply for the amplifier will eb in the house.

Understand, thanks. It is the same with satellite comms where a low noise amplifier is placed immediately behind the antenna itself so that the signal it amplifies is as strong and free of clutter as possible. I guess my question is more on the power to run that amplifier....so you are saying there are two circuits to the antenna pole, one supplying power to the amp and another to carry the signal back to the house? I guess it really doesn't matter whether one or two because the hard part is digging the trench to drop the cable(s) into!!

Only one circuit, the power is carried over the coaxial cable. The correct name is actually a preamplifier. There is a good diagram at http://www.solidsignal.com/p/?p=3535.
