After watching my mother die of emphysema from smoking, it confimed my decision never to smoke.  Now I just worry about the effects of second hand smoke.  

My husband quit, cold turkey, right after we got married.  There is no reason for anyone to smoke given all the aids there are now to help one quit.  I had a friend that smoked at least two packs a day, until he didn't wake up one morning at 74.
