The Marine Police will hold a boating safety class June 29th and July 1st in Tallassee. It will be at City Hall and will start at 6:30 p.m. both nights. Attendance both nights is required. For more info email me or call

Thanks! Would you please clear one thing up for me? I thought most areas were covered in the "Power Squadron" courses offered in most states.
I had been off the waterways for 8-9 years and wanted a refresher but couldn't find one in this area. Are they available or does this MP course cover the same thing?

The Power Squadron does teach a course...I think it's usually in Montgomery. Also the Coast Guard Auxillary has a course. The Marine Police course covers the basics. We talk about types of boats, required equipment, right of way, etc. Things that will help you be a safe boat operator AND will keep you from getting a ticket. The main reason for coming is it gets you certified for the vessel license.
