How about putting your empty cans, bottles, etc, back in your cooler instead of throwing them out at Chimney Rock(or elsewhere on the lake), it doesn't take any longer to do this than to drop it in the water and no one will have to swim around it or have to avoid hitting it when in their boat...........

I have a better idea. Rather than simply suggesting this to people via an online post, when you see someone litter in the lake, pull your boat up next to theirs and whoop their @$$. Littering should result in a lifetime ban from the lake. . .that would teach the buttholes to keep their trash in the boat.

This weekend was the first time I had been on the lake in over fifteen years, and I had enough respect for it and sense enough to take a trash bag on the boat. People should be ashamed.

Mississippi has a state law that every boat must have a trash container and they must exhibit a sticker that they are aware of the law.

Wonder if it's the same wonderful people who litter the roads--nothing happens until the police enforce it.

Uh oh. I'm about to step into the proverbial cah-cah but here goes.....

I spoke with an individual about this the other day. He/they was/ were sinking their beer bottles. I asked them "why". They said if they are caught with empties (or if they are visible) they will be placed underneath the jail for extended periods (whether or not they were intoxicated). They said the same was true in a car....if there are laws that automatically nail someone just for having empties in their vessel or vehicle....no wonder the waterways and roadways are being littered.
I mentioned a black garbage bag but the suggestion got blurred by a belch...if I remember right.

The problem is not as bad as you would think! I congratulate the boaters who saw fit to completely fill my 3 large dumpsters at the marina this past, rainy weekend. We routinely provide trash bags and public access to our dumpsters and our day-boating customers have responded well to the program.

As for glass bottles, I would love to see Corona join the others and can their beer so we would no longer need to carry unsafe and undecaying glass bottles at all.

The idiot who thinks he's somehow immune from prosecution under the DUI laws by throwing his empties into the lake - is kidding himself. There is no open container law in a boat as there is in a car. As long as the driver is sober and not drinking, the MP's could care less if everybody else in the boat is mesmerized......

corona does can their cerveza, just harder to find than the bottles, and only comes in a six pack. also, that is true about the previous post. the only time the 5-0 will raise an eyebrow is if the driver has an adult beverage within reach, or exhibits the usual signs of "mesmerization"

OSMS --- Does that stand for Ocean Springs, MS by chance?
