Both an address and email address for James McIndoe, Chief, Water Division at ADEM were included in previous posts. We attempted to send an email requesting a public hearing, but the email was rejected by the ADECA Postmaster. We verified the email address as posted and sent the message a second time without attachments and it was still rejected. We will send a letter tomorrow and we suggest that everyone else does the same. A public hearing would allow us to address a number of issues, including the actual safety of the water in different areas of the lake. We are concerned about how significant the discharge actually is to us at this time - can our grandson still swim in our bay, are the fish OK to eat, etc. In addition to solving to problem for the future environment at Lake Martin, these are questions that we all must have on our minds. Now for Lifetime Laker. Your remarks deserve a response. These "weekend warriors" as you call them pay their taxes as all others do that own property on this lake. I have owned property on this lake for 17 years and been very fortunate to have lived here since 1998. We also live in the Sandy Creek area and I will give you a hint. I stepped out on the porch this morning and the stench coming from the water smelled like an open sewer pipe. Would you like that? I sincerely hope not, because we have all worked hard for what we have and try to keep it that way.

Please post the address. This thing is about to affect everyone! Time to get mad and do something...

Don't worry about LTL, most of the "weekend warriors" here could buy and sell people like him on a regular basis...you are right to be concerned and I would NOT swim right now if you have any health conditions...

This is the address we took from an earlier post: ADEM, ATTN: James McIndoe, Chief, Water Division, P.O. Box 301463, Montgomery, AL 36130-1463. Ref. to NPDES Permit No. AL0063797. We hope lots of folks will participate - it's the only way to find out for sure what the actual safety is of our water and what we can do to help.

Address is:
Alabama Department of Environmental Management
ATTN: James McIndoe
Chief, Water Division
P.O. Box 301463
Montgomery, AL 36130-1463

Please refer to NPDES Permit No. AL0063797. Stress the need for a public hearing concerning the renewal of the above permit for Dadeville Sewage Treatment Plant.

I sent my letter (e-mail) to Mr. McIndoe at 'H2omail@adem.state.al.us' which is the Water Division address. It did not come back to me, so I assume someone there received it.

Thanks, I went to ADEM's website and confirmed your address of the Water Division. I think we got some mistaken info from 'Lady'. I'll post as a new post as well.

buy or sell me. Not without a really fat checkbook. You guys waste all the time you want demanding public hearings. I have better things to do with my time. What do you think they are going to do? Shut down the plant and make everybody in Dadeville leave. In the meantime ask around and find out how much luck the neighbors at Bay Pines had getting something done when they had pollution 'issues'.

I am still looking for the post from Lakewatch or Save Lake Martin that declares unacceptable levels of any contaminant. As has already been posted, the only consistent problem has been the system getting overwhelmed during times of heavy rainfall, and measures have already been taken to help alleviate that problem. Who knows, maybe you guys can be successful at getting a foot or so of water drained out, then you will have a whole new issue to whine about.
