Hi everyone, from a long-time lurker but rare poster.

About 3 weeks ago, a tall, cylindrical hazard buoy washed ashore at our pier. The buoy is marked KB13 from the Kowaliga Bay area. I contacted the Marine Police and gave the GPS coordinates where it could be found. I suppose that chasing these things is low on their priority list, so I tried to find contact information for the LMRA who I understand controls these hazard buoys. A call was placed and an e-mail sent but I received no reply.

ANYWAY, I noticed yesterday that the KB13 buoy has been replaced. My primary concern of an unmarked hazard is gone, but now I have a 6-foot buoy to contend with. Any ideas about what to do with this thing? Father's Day gift? Ebay? LOL

If any LMRA representatives read this, let me know how to contact you - I'm sure those things aren't cheap.

Drag it out to a hazard area and anchor it with a concrete block.
With the water conditions that should be easy to do or easy to find.

Jim Koeppen places and replaces the hazard buoys on this lake. His phone number is in the phone book (Dadeville). You can also send him an e-mail message at jameskoeppen1@charter.net.

I spoke to Jim today, and he is awaiting your call or email. You are correct, the buoys are expensive, and he has a very strategic process for placing and tracking them. Thanks for your help.

Thanks everyone. This is a great forum in that what I could not get done in 3 weeks was solved in a matter of hours. I'm an idiot for not asking sooner.

BTW, GREAT Father's Day at the lake today. Stayed out until the lighthouse at Kowaliga fired up - H20 was luke and the sky was gorgeous.
