I just noticed that we have not reached 490(full pool) in over 3 years. When was the last time we actually hit 490, and for how long. APCO needs to come forth this winter with a statewide plan for how to deal with drought conditions and lake levels. I have heard that other APCO complained drastically during the last drought conditions and this year were not affected as bad.

Is just our turn???----- I personally would like to have some answers.

490 is "Full" pool. There should be some buffer for tropical storms, etc. If they allowed it to fill up and a big storm came everyone would complain about flooding....

"APCO needs to come forth this winter with a statewide plan for how to deal with drought conditions and lake levels."

If you stop to think about the overall effects of drought conditions compared with the overall effects of the lake being a little lower than normal, you might decide that dealing with the drought is a whole lot more important than dealing with people who have to work a little harder to use their boats.

I think everything APCO has been putting out in print and media is the plan. They have been explaining what the "plan" is for quite some time now. The plan is to continue to meet the flow requirments and continue to have adequate water sources down stream as they have done.

I don't think the plan necessarily includes making sure recreational boats can play all summer during one of the worst droughts in 40 years. Why do you feel you personally need some answers? To what exactly? Every lake designated as a reservoir is already at winter pool or will be within the next week or two.

If you want to be happier about water levels in years to come you will start to consider 489 full pool, and the 4-9 inches above that as 'bonus' water. Lake Martin, as most resivoir lakes, fluctuates at all times. Even in the best of conditions the lake will hardly ever be at 'full pool' for extended periods. Too many factors involved.

Why do I want answers? Because I have been a property owner since '69, and in that time I can only remember actually being above 490 in a "flood condition", and I use that term loosely becuse I do not feel that even 10 inches(and that is what the maximum I have seen it in my history) above 490 constitutes a Flood. If you have a structure that is affected by that water level negatively, then that just isn't smart.

And I don't consider your pier pathway boards slightly underwater that detrimental---give me a break.

I serve on the board of directors of a camp on the other lake controlled by APCO(Logan Martin), and we a APCO employee on the board. He indicated that they have meteorologist on staff that are predicting that next summer the drought will almost as bad as this year. They are appealing to the Army Corp of Engineers to try and direct more water in this area.

When will we reach 490 again?----if you don't think this is affecting the property values----in turn affecting the property tax basis---then get your head out of the sand.
