Has anyone seen a burgundy & white, 3 person Yamaha Waverunner floating around in the Sandy Creek area, near Sandy Creek Estates, in the past week? Hubby went down last night and discovered one near a neighbor's dock and the other missing, along with 2 FULL 5 gal. gas cans. Don't know if it possibly broke loose during rain or if someone helped themselves to it - kind of looks suspicious with the gas cans being gone also. We've checked w/ the marine police and they don't have it. Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Got it back! It was found near the DARE park. Come to find out, one of our neighbor's sons, who is an adult and had been drinking, took it! We are glad it was recovered, but it is not in great shape.
|
Glad you got it back and I hope the neighbor and/or his son makes things right with you.

If that were me - someone would either be buying me a new jetski, or finding themselves in jail with a civil suit pending for replacement value of jetski. Either way, they would absolutely be on the receiving end of a first-class head thumping that would probably result in me being sent to jail.

My hubby is pressing charges - it is a felony. I would be happy just to have everything paid for, but he thinks the guy would do something like this again. We think he has used our hot tub when we've been gone several times also. He apparently has no respect for other people's property. It's kind of scary though since he lives so close to us.

Since you guys only use the home on the weekends or less, it seems that you are in a Catch-22. If you charge the guy - he may retaliate by doing who know what to your property. If you don't then basically you have given him a free-pass to do whatever he wants - even if he pays for the damages. For what it is worth - I agree with your husband.
I'm sorry you have such a pathetic loser for a neighbor. I would tell his dad that you are going to press charges and if anything happens to your property you will hold him accountable. I would then seek an injunction that would prevent the POS from being within X-feet of your property. I would attempt to have the injuction cover a distance that would include your neighbors property. That would prevent him from being able to use their property and eliminate the possibility of a confrontation.
If all else fails - introduce the punk to the business end of a baseball bat.

Hey Angel I live in your neighborhood on Tahoe court . I built there on the the corner last year.If you don't mind I would like to email you and find out exactly where your place is. I live there full time and if you ever need for me to check on things I wouldn't mind. I think your husband is right with pressing charges. Tyler

I appreciate the offer, but we don't actually live in Sandy Creek Estates - it was just the closest area I could think of to narrow the area down.

It might not hurt to put a web cam in. You cold monitor the property via your computer or a security camera.

That is an excellent idea. Even though we live full-time - I have given some serious thought to installing a system at our house with a few cameras - one pointing towards our boat.

You might also get some great wild life pictures. I heard there was once a reporting of a Bigfoot in the region. LOL

HA! Funny feb! It does sound like something to consider though, especially with "water toys" tied up at the dock since we now HAVE water again! It is sad to me that we even need to consider something like that. We've been on the lake for 4 yrs now and have never had a problem (other than someone getting in the hot tub when we've been gone) until now. Has anyone else had a problem with someone taking their "stuff"?

If you mess around with web cams, give Conquer Cam software a try. It will snap shots at any interval you desire. It also has the ability to use a mask to record video files. This is somewhat hard to describe, but basically you create an image mask and if motion is detected in the area defined (based on the placement of the camera) it will record a video clip and save to a file. Software link is below. You can use it for free with their logo overlay. The guy that wrote it has not updated it since 2004 but it works well on XP.
