Anyone know of any laws against it on the lake?
One of the marine police out at Chimney Rock was talking to me about the people jumping off the rocks and he said "there is no law against stupidity" so I was just wondering if this was the case with parasailing as well.

An excellent area to do it would be heading toward Kowliga bridge as the boat pulling you goes under the bridge. :)

Almost as smart as those that jump off the rock.

I would be curious to know the answer to this as well. The planes land on the water in the big bay north of pleasure Point, It would be a great area to give it a try. It's the perfect sailing spot although I never see sailboats out there. It gets a lot of wind coming from the wind creek and maddwind creek areas.

They've been parasailing down on the Windcreek end for some time now. Stay in the channel and its as safe as parasailing can get.

I own a parasail and we used it a bunch last year. MP would just stop and watch. We haven't found a long enough sandy beach to take off from this year
:(

is there some way to do this from a floating dock. I have people doing it form such in the islands. Maybe they get away with it because the wind is always blowing there. don't know but would like to.

allanbuchannon, Have you tried to do like they do in the ocean and release off the back of the boat?

No..It would take a winch to do that. I don't think it would work on a boat not made for parasailing. If someone knows that it would...I would like to know.

That would be pretty unsafe without a boat made for parasailing. Perhaps it's possible getting up but would not want to land on a normal boat. They have winches on parasail boats to guide the parasail to a platform while the boat is underway. The platforms are usually at a minumum 6x6 feet. Without a winch it would be difficult to regulate speed and position of your decent with accuracy. The recreational parasails I've seen do not have any operator controls, unlike skydiving parachutes.
