Please stop your picking on Acorn for voter fraud." Stop calling their office demanding answers. If you want them to know we are watching them and expect them to protect the right to vote with only (1) vote per person, then call them and voice your opinion.

If you would like to contact a specific division of the Secretary of State's office, you may use the following phone numbers or contact pages:

General Agency Phone Number: 877-767-6446 (SOS-OHIO) or local 614-466-2655

Thanks for the information.

As an American first, and then a Democrat, I find this appalling. Sadly, there are always loose cannons in an election. The Republicans need to call in Katherine Harris, former Florida Secretary of State during the infamous 2000 Florida recount, to stop this overzealous voter registration drive in Ohio. I do not want the Republicans crying fraud after Obama wins Ohio. I hope this is stopped and fixed brfore the election.

We are still waiting on your response at to what percentage of income you feel "rich" people should pay. Warious levels of "rich" would be fine. You have posted many things about your support for Obama in this agrea ... but since he does not define it .... I, along with others, would be very interested in an American like you, as to what you feel is fair and appropriate.

It is hard to imagine a smart person like yourself would support someone and their policy if you did not already have a view as to what someone should pay in addition to where it is today.

I checked out both barackobama.com and johnmccain.com websites. Both have their tax plans described. The Obama plan provided included a lot more detail than McCain's unless I just didn't find all the information on the site. The Obama claim is that no one under $250,000 will have increased taxes, so I assume his proposed new top marginal tax rates of 36% and 39.6% must take effect above that 250K level. The McCain plan indicated maintaining a top marginal rate of 35%.

I guess what you don't understand is that the $250,000 and up, is mostly made up of the small businesses in this country. This taxation would basically shut the doors of these businesses. My business would lay off 22 people. These 22 people will be on government assistance and the unemployment list. I am just 1 business. This could mean your job! I guess you should go back and read your history book. This happened once in 1881 and Reformers came in. They tried to promote socialism and Progressivism. They wanted the government to own the industries and businesses and run them for the people. Sound familiar? The other was the Progressive government that wanted to regulate business. Sound familiar? The people were in an rage over the corruption in the government with kick backs, bribes , cheating etc. This is when the government had to make changes to protect the American people. The President was assassinated four months after the election. This was James A. Garfield . He was assassinated by an unsuccessful insurance sales man who was mad at the political system and how it failed him.

Freshwater Bay Girl - I was just pointing out the marginal tax rates that are listed in each of the candidate's plan. I didn't make any observation about the rates. I'm not sure how that led you to the conclusion I didn't understand the small business impact...but you are correct. I am not really familiar with small buisnesses. I searched on FactCheck.Org and couldn't find anything specific (fact or fiction) about loss of jobs at small buisnesses due to the proposed increased marginal tax rate. Can you post the direct link to the factcheck item that covers this issue?

A couple FactCheck.Org links related to taxes, including impact on small business:

It is not the marginal tax rate that has a significant impact on small businesses ... although any taxes lower the dollars available to grow the business and create jobs. But part of the "Bush" tax cuts were specific items that benefit small business and create jobs that when Obama allows them to expire and not renew will have an impact on small business, investment and job creation. It is funny how Obama never talks about this in his tax plan. He only talks about raising taxes over $250m and redistributing it to low income people (most of which already pay no taxes). If that is not redistribution of wealth and socialism I do not know what it is then.

But specific to small business, the 179 deduction for immediate write off in investments up to $250,000 a year for small businesses. This stimulates investment in new equipment, which itself creates job and helps the economy. But it also helps the small business grow through the investment that creats jobs and because the small business can write it off immediately on their taxes, this adds capital to the business to further help them grow and add jobs. This program has worked very well and it will be eliminated under Obama. That is penalizing middle class that owns businesses and create the majority of jobs in america.

The other thing I want to point out that is misleading about Obama's tax plan ... he says he will reduce taxes on 95% of americans. But because the "Bush" tax cuts were not made permanent, he looks at it "after" they expire and then says he will cut from there. But for most middle income people, they will pay more than they do now, "not less". Very misleading.

WW - Thanks for the information. By the way, I am against any tax increases until the government demonstrates that the money already collected with the current rates is spent effectively.
