worth a watch ... especially because Phil Donahue actually looked speachless. It is old, but more relavant than ever.

Phil was as usual completely out of his league with Friedman. All these leftists believe that which is not so, that the problem is not socialism but that it has never been done right. What he rightly points out is that socialism runs contrary to human nature and has never worked and will never work. Self interest drives almost everything positive and collectivism only brings everyone down to the same level of misery. What is good about that?

What always amazes me is the complete ignorance of an overwhelming historical record supporting the advances in societies that are free with respect to trade and enterprise versus societies that practice collectivism and central control to one degree or another. What is also depressing though is the historical record is also rife wit examples where societies that abandon those free market principals always, and I mean always, degrade into economic stagnation and eventually to despotism or worse. The question is whether Obama is the first big step in this direction for the U.S. or whether he is just a bump in the road on this experiment. I fear the former and hope for the latter.
