I'm coming to the Lake mid to late Feb. to crappie fish. Anyone have any pointers on water depth and best areas of the lake to start. I know that fishing spots are placed in the lake by the state. Can anyone share the coordinates to those or tell me we're to find them. Also is one area of the lake better than another? Any info would be appreciated.

Go to LakeMartinHOBOs.com then scan to bottom of website and click on “GPS”.  That’ll take you to instructions on how to get artificial reef location information.

We are staying on Little Kowlidga Creek. Where would you recommend starting from there?

Sorry, I only eat fish!!  I’m sure you can get advice on the Lake Martin Fishing forum site to your left on the topics column.

I assume that you know that the water will be down 10' so be careful boating. Probably fish the Kowligia bridge.

Crappie like to spawn in areas of shallow water, usually around 2-to-4 feet deep, with cover such as brush, flooded timber or weeds, and with easy access to deeper water. In areas with murky water and thick cover, I have sometimes found them nearly on the bank.
