I have every intention of being there but it is a long day ahead before 6pm so we will see. Last time my liquid diet got in the way but hopefully nothing like that will occurr to prevent the travel east.....

Had about 60 ppl there. Good turnout, got 3 new members for LMLPA. Alabama Power rep presented on the history and state of the lake, and fielded a lot of questions about the Water Wars issue. Basically, he said, he didn't know what the outcome would be. He said we're still a few inches below the average yearly rainfall. Also admitted that lowest operational level of Logan Martin Dam was "several feet" below winter pool. That freaked a few people out. His presentaiton and teh Q and A lasted about an hour. Mayor Hereford talked for about 20 minutes on the importance of LMLPA, the water issues the city is currently facing. Said Pell City is eventually going to have to buy water that has been pulled from Logan Martin, so keeping it clean is very important. Justin Hogeland, the Mayor, and I presented a check for $7500 to LMLPA from LakeFest. Mike said that the money would go toward a variety of projects including the wetlands project. The hot topic of the evening was Canadian Geese. I would say over half of the folks were there to talk about the goose nuisance. After a lot of discussion about what could humanely be done, Mike established a committee and several folks in attendance signed up to be a part of it.
