Logan Martin lake elevation is expected to rise to near elevation 461 on 3/26 and could remain there until 4/7, depending on any additional rain events that may be forecast. The web at https://lakes.alabamapower.com/ will be updated if needed as we move through this period.

Isn't this the start of the normal rise to summer pool?

The lake is not scheduled to start coming up to full pool until April 1.  There was immense amount of rain and this was to calm everyone's fear's of flooding.  By the 7th it should be at normal reservoir stage of 460.87 and give us a head start of reaching summer levels of around 465.

LMLPA's President and a Board Member will be attending a meeting this afternoon and tonight with the Corp of engineers on various subjects including winter drawdown in writing their new water manual.  Once the water manual has been updated the Corp will make their decision and make their recommendation to FeRC and to other agencies.  We are not sure if this is approved if it will be a temporary variance or permanent level until the relicensing by APCO is granted.  The relicensing has been delayed due to interaction by special interest groups and the complexity of the license since it will cover all impoundments instead of one impoundment at a time.  As you may recall Atlanta Regional Commission issued an objection to our request for an increase of the winter level due to possible flooding in Georgia.  LMLPA has a good relation with APCO and found that FeRC responds to our interaction in a positive manner.  This has been accomplished by constantly being publicized and responding to any outside action.  However, we need members because there is strength in numbers which gives us clout with all government agencies.
