I'm new to Smith Lake. Was up there Saturday and did some boating around the area and it was awesome. I haven't seen a lake that clean in a long time and I have seen my share of lakes.

What is the history of Smith Lake? What lies beneath the surface? I've heard a few sketchy stories but I have no clue if they are true or not. Any info would be great. Also, hangout points, where is the spot every one hangs out at?

I grew up playing on this lake and can remember my dad and grandfather talking about houses, bridges, everything being hundreds of feet down because they had been on/in them when it was just a river!

LOL. If you think the lake is clean now, wait til the muck settles down from the quick water rise. It looks as muddy as the Mississippi River right now!
