I over heard some men talking this weekend that the state of Alabama and APCO are going to make it against the law to ski or any other pulling behind a boat until four weeks after the fish have fully spawned. They said it would start when the water temp reached 60 degrees. The heavy wakes are washing away the eggs from the fish beds and the fish population is decreasing because of this. Fishing would still be allowed during this time. So it looks like no skiing until about June. They went on to say that they own the shore line and since most of the fish beds were within 20 feet of it, they control what affects them also. They said it will be voted on in the next meeting.

Hmm, good luck with patrolling that one. So early in the spring they are "worried" about skier chop and not bass boat chop, give me a break.

Unfortunately its very true. Due to the massive decline of the fish population, only hover skis will be allowed until after Memorial Day. The law clearly states that air boards must be used in place of wake boards until then also. This has absolutely nothing to do with April Fool's Day either. See you on the water in my new sky boat soon.

I found some reading on it and the jet skiis are limited to their length and engine size. I believe the limits were 125HP and 10ft......
I will try and find the article,,,,,,, it was excessive about closing boat ramps for 2 weeks and limiting all traffic not just skiiers........ makes me want to launce mine and keep in water just to test them.....
looking for it now....

All I could find was that fast moving boats like bass boats did not cause much damage. It is the pulling of somthing behind the boat that causes the boat to give off the damaging wake because the speed can not be fast enough. I understand that when this happens APCO will put four times the amount of managers on the lake along with air planes for patrol.
