Was quoted $1600 for parts for 2007 Yamaha 75 (4 stroke) at a local marins.

Labor is $500

Total is $2100.

Seems high and wondering if I really need both.

Thoughts?

After doing a little research, if I did it right the trim motor is 294.00.  Takes about 1-2 hrs to install.  Depending!.  Doubtful the hydraulic unit is bad, and may just need seals and repair.  Best case scenrio is 294.00 and hour and half labor = 143.00.  As Steve Harvey on Family Fued would say "SURVEY SAID - $437.00".  Of course this is just an accurate guess.

Whatever happened to the repair on the Yamaha? Did it need both parts, or was thw first quote a little overboard? Just wondering!

We have the boat.  Very nice unit.  Electric Trim motor is bad.  I'm thinkin way less money.  BUT, we have not removed the trim unit yet.  Next week will tell the tale.

Update: The trim motor was replaced and the cost was under $800. It was well worth the the two roundtrip visits to have Cat work on the motor!
