Found whole Boston Butts on sale for $1.18 lb. I decided to buy enough to fill the MES so 8 went on teh smoker Saturday. Finished pulling and vacuum packing last night. The approximately 80 pounds yielded 36.5 lbs packed. I gave away 4.5 pounds and froze the rest. Good start for the year!

Good for you!!! Looking at the weather map Iknow you might be cooking it in snow or ice.... Delicious in front of a big fire...

Mack I actually bought them Saturday morning and got them off the smoker Sunday about 1:00PM, before any snow and ice hit. The eight I smoked started at about 80 pounds and yielded 36.5 pounds pulled and packed. I had lots of volunteers to help eat it but no one stepped up to help pull and pack. Go figure!

Right now we are at a high of 19 and headed toward lows -9 tomorrow night and -5 on Thursday night. We have from 1/3 to 1/2 inch of ice on everything and about 2" of snow on top of that. They are calling for more in the morning. I wish I had a fireplace! I might even try to hang a tenderloin up and cook it like we used to when we killed pigs. That was some good eating!
