Anyone have Charter HD? We just bought a new HD TV and signed for Charter's HD service, but now our VCR does not work. It sounds like it is recording, but when I go to play it back, all I get is a scrambled picture. I can play previously recorded tapes and they are fine. I had heard that Charter has something in the box that will not let you tape shows - you might tape and sell them! We bought a new DVD/VCR and the same thing happens. Any help out there?

Is your video recorder a DVR (Digital)? Your Charter HD box is only outputting a digital signal for your digital HD set. If your recorder is analog, you can split your cable signal before it goes into your box and run one leg off your splitter to your analog vcr and, if so desired, on to an available input jack on your TV...note that you can only record the analog channels (generally, 2-73 if in Alex City area). The other leg from your splitter can go on through your digital box for your premium subscription programming including HD.

After about 6 hours trying everything we could think of and suggestions from Charter techs, we gave up and put a TV/VCR on a separate hookup to tape and it works fine. And I can play the tapes on my original VCR that is attached to the HD Box. To use Charter's DVR, it costs $15 per month - a little steep, I think.
Thanks for the suggestions.
