Where is a good place to order a load of rip-rap? Also, a couple of loads of small gray rocks, just larger than crush and run ( aka crush and flow to the bottom of the driveway when it rains)?
What is the normal cost range?

I got a load from Cody Benton (Cody and L.D. Benton, Jr.) delivered to Dadeville. Price was $500...did not get any other estimates so I don't know how that compares to others. He said it was 26 ton...was a big load. He delivered it very early on the morning after my order. I guess what I got was the standard-sized rock for rip-rap but did have some rather large ones included. You might want to discuss size options with him...don't know anything about the smaller ones you asked about but I may need some of those too for another project. Larry Scroggins also delivers rip-rap (Alex City). I have used him also in the past. I would recommend him as well as the Bentons.

John Turner (T&T excavating) will haul a load of any of the above over for you. He's just behind Jordans on Hwy 63/ Prospect road.

I'll bring my tractor over and spread it you fix the hole in my house....heck, I may even help spread it if the steaks are big enough and the beer is cold enough.

So far I seem to have two offers: BigFoot's resume: "I am real good at sitting in a lawn chair, drinking a beer, and telling others what to do!" Jlazc: "Will tractor for beer and steak" There is one thing in common. Hmmmmmm. Before I make my decision I need to ask, "Does the hole in your house have anything to do with your tractor driving?"

The Bentons are straight up guys. I would use them again in a second.
Hole in your house... I want the inside scoop on this one?

No, I've never hit the house but I do know how to get stuck in the mud....It seems a supposed premier LM builder (initials K. H.) didn't believe in flashing when he built my house. I have a wood rot problem that will make for a considerable winter project.

That is no fun. It is amazing how quickly the damage comes when there water gets in. And you are right, just a little flashing and problem would have never occurred.
The guy who built my addition in 2000 did an overall great job, and I used his design and method to extend that some more. BUT, when we get a blowing rain from the NorthWest, and it comes in above my big picture windows, they get washed on the inside. I have placed some flashing on some bedroom windows that had that problem, and must tackle the big windows soon. It is at the top of my list, I just don't have time to work off the list anymore.

...good to get a good laugh before I head out the door to tackle the rock pile...

I have a neighbor who is quite accomplished at flashing - not sure what that has to do with building a house though.
