According to the rainfall reports from above the dam, we've had over half an inch of rain in the last 24 hours, yet the lake has dropped by .02 feet, as of right now. Why does the COE see fit to release water every time it rains, especially when downstream of the dam, from here to the Gulf of Mexico, is getting pounded with rain? There is no science to their methods. Just another example of the basic policy of water control on the Chattahoochee River and Lake Lanier, SPITE. The release schedule has nothing to do with science, hydrology, water needs, power generation needs, etc. The COE knows we want a decent pool for the summer, which is precisely why they release in the manner they do. Typical government agency, answers basically to no one and uses their position to dump on the general public.

Yep and they deployed the same tactic yesterday, after we recive 0.8" of rainfall on Monday (July 16th) the lake level actually dropped 0.02"

The COE are accountable to no-one and have no science to what they do, since they deploy this transparent tactic everytime it rains. I suspect it is so they can say that they relaese a cummalative amount of water over each month.

QUESTION: we're all pissed-off with this, we see through the COE's transparent BS tactics; what can we do to shake things up?

I called and spoke to the COE and let them know this is ridiculous. I received basic rhetoric, but I do believe if enough of us call and let them know we're on to them, perhaps we can make a change. There was another court ruling in our favor concerning Lanier Water Rights in June, so ask the COE about that.

I have no idea what the COE is doing here.  I've been following our rainfall and the lake levels for years and years and find it almost humorous that no matter how much it rains half the time the lake still goes down.  I've heard all the excuses and explanations of why rainfall and lake levels don't always correlate but these usually don't hold water, pun intended.
