A late report from last monday...

Arrived at the Burks Cove Lodge on the south end of the lake Sunday evening and got the boat in the water and settled in for a couple of days fishing.  Monday we were on the water by 7:30 and worked the lake from Kowalige Bridge down to the dam and couldn't find a fish anywhere we expected to see them.  Got on decent hit on a black salty mid-lake between Anchor Bay Marina and Ware Slough but didn't hook up.

Tuesday moning text with Mountain Man revealed that there were very few fish and they were scattered.  So, what to do?  Go to what has always worked!

At about 11:00 AM ran up to the bridge again and started working  between the pilings.  Between the 2nd and 3rd piers on the west side just on the north edge of the bridge we hit a decent school of fish.  10 min. to boat three fish.  Two 8 lbs and one 10 lbs all on black salties.

Headed back to the lodge and packed up for the trip home at about 12:00.  Closed out our trip very, very pleased with the lodge, the lake and the fishing.

Thanks, Mountain Man for the conversation.  Really appreciate your time.

So, I just messed up on an email that someone sent me.  Didn't get things right and the email was deleted before I could respond.  The only thing I can remember about the question was where I had bought black saltys.  Answer is:  At the Blooms and Bait on 229 right up at the highway 63 junction.  Used 3 baits and got 3 stripers.

So does anyone know how the fishing on the lower lake is right now for stripers?  Would love to come back up and fish some more.
