I enjoy reading your reports, keep them coming. If i ever get a chance to go, i'll post one. Do you fish for crappie?

I'm pretty much a bass fisherman . When I can find crappie in the spring I will fish for them . I love to catch them and eat them . Yesterday evening I found some larger than average bass on a deep point with the plastic worm . I got 5 in about an hour that were 15 to 18 inches long  . That is my favorite way to fish ;  plastic worms on points . This morning the surface bite was really good  . I caught 23 . One was a largemouth about about 17 inches long .The rest were spots`12 to 15 inches . Eat more spots .

I know fishermen are very reluctant to reveal their fishing holes, but it would be interesting to know what part of the lake you are having so much fun on.

I would love to "eat more spots"!!!!  These fishing tips on the forum are a huge help, but I still could use more help in locating them as well as getting the bite. Any additional tips like buteye suggested would help me tremendously!!!  Like how deep are the deep points and type of rigging and color for worm fishing (Texas VS Carolina) as well as general location on the lake.

Again, I greatly appreciate hounddog's report!!!!  It gets me excited about hitting the water.

Personally , I like to work things out for myself . I like to put in the time on the hunt to find where the fish are in my area . I like to use lures that I have come to have confidence in because they produce consistently for me . If I just use something because somebody told me to use it  ,and somebody told me how to use it , and somebody told me where to use it , I just don't feel much sense of accomplishment in my successes . It more or less just becomes a cheap thrill at that point . Cheap thrills are fine for what they are  but they aren't condusive to cultivating passion for a hobby that becomes a part of ones way of life throughout ones life . I don't fish in order to alleviate boredom temporarily with some activity that is just another in along list of dabbled in activites . I 'm just speaking for myself personally  and am not trying to tell any others what to believe or think or do.  I don't mean to belittle or offend anyone , but if you want to be areally good angler work things out for yourself . If mediocrity is good enough then just seek consensus of the majority and I guarantee you that is what you will achieve . I might be done here . Eat more spots .

I don't have any problem with your thoughts about doing your own thing and enjoying ones own successes as they go. As you stated in your post on 9/1(4:25), you were not interested in starting a peeing contest and neither am I, but your last post seems to contradict what you said on 9/1. You have mentioned the "chrome" puppy, the worm rig, and the big white popping bug among your baits. Also, you said you were hoping some other fishers would offer a little insight on what is happening on other parts of the lake. I think that I and some of the other posters were just trying to enjoy reading about the fun you and any others are having on your fishing trips. I don't think anyone is asking for GPS locations or any specific "fishing" holes. I am in Blue Creek and it is interesting to hear what is happening on other parts of the lake.

Fishing forum is beginning to sound like Other Topic. Are more spots caught by the left or right? Do liberals eat spots? Do Trump supporters use worms or lures?

Hound has shared more information than anyone has in the past about his method of fishing. As to where he fishes???? It is not fair to expect anyone to share their locations. Hound needs to beome a guide and then you pay to fish and learn the locations.

Let's show respect for each other and not let Fishing become just another typical forum stop where insults become the norm.

Here you go ,for a good laid back fishing for spots. Crank baits of your choise i like bandit in a bream or bluegill patteren ,troll them about 40-60 ft behind your boat as slow as you can go with main motor troll over points 10-20 ft of water and hang on and enjoy S/F

Thank you for suggestion.  I enjoy fishing, but I really enjoy catching more!!!  Your tips/suggestions are appreciated, especially since I am a fishing novice.

I'm no expert but do catch a few spots  . Have a recent success very early around lights with blue and yellow rattle traps. The early bites on Pop R topwater. Some big spots are under and around docks. Then as it warms up after good light. Run two or three troll lines and watch your graph. You will see the spots deep off the points runnin deep divers with tons of light line out, maybe 150 feet. Alternate with rattle trap. Good luck you'll learn fast as you catch a few.

I greatly appeciate the tips and suggestions from donnie1 in order to help me get going in order to do more catching than fishing. Once I learn and practice some suggested lures and techniques, I can get better. This forum has the potential to be very helpful for those who are willing to listen as well as share. Again, thanks!!!!

As the water cools, start looking for schools of shad.  I have caught plenty of bass that have spit up shad about the size of a Number 5 Shad Rap, so I keep a spinning rod rigged up with one of those as my primary rod, plus something I can cast a mile like a Redeye Shad for long distance bombing at schools, a deep diving crankbait, a topwater, and a Rapala.  I can catch bass on all of those lures on a good fall day, as well as white bass when they decide to get in on the schooling action, and also the occasional crappie and even some larger than average bluegills.
