Weather Saturday was exceptional. Surface temps were 62 early and warmed to 65 after lunch. Fished some new locations with similiar results. Fish were hanging near creeks on points in about 35-40 feet of water. Bait was on the bottom and larger than Thursday. Started with a 3/4 oz spoon painted like a spot tail minnow. Spots were spitting up shad about that size and was more productive than the 1/2 oz. Also split time catching a 1/4 oz bullet head jig head and a tiny fluke with a more suttle presentation. You can catch your limit beatin the bank but for me, caught my limit on 2 spots. Both of these baits are availible on my web site, email me if you have any questions about bait presentations.

Samdog...you should schedule a trip with him....first hand experience with a guide will save many hours "hunting" for fish at Lake Martin. My experience, the lake is not the easiest lake to fish.

Big key to this type of fishing is good electronics with a mapping program similar to Navionics to identify contour lines and creek channels. I offer discounted trips if we use your boat and that way we can focus on your section of the lake. I also furnish you some baits that we use for future trips.

Sounds fun. BTW, I'm a kayak fisherman although I do have electronic on board.  Most days I can find some fish but I am on the south west end of the lake and it's tough for me most days.

I fish the Little Kowaliga arm without electronics, so I can't find those deep fish unless I hit some rocky points that I scouted during the 2007 drought.  I would love to cruise over a few spots near the cabin with a modern fish finder to see where the spots are holding.  I would also like to scout for stripes this time of year.

Pics of some of the jigging spoons that have been successful for me this year in 1/2 oz and 3/4 oz sizes. Blue giltter, fircracker and silver spot tail spoon. All are powder coated and heat hardened with your preference for treble hook size in either a 6, 4 or 2.
