I found this snippet very informative and funny. I still cannot understand how people think this health care bill is a good thing. There isn't anything in this bill that is understandable or clear or not open ended for the federal government to change whenever they want. Watch this snippet and tell me you understand any of this?

I am all for insuring those that are un-insured, but I do not see how this bill is any kind of answer to the 8-10 million that do not have health care coverage. (It's not 50 million like Obama says. . . he is including all of the illegal immigrants in his number). I like the idea to simply amend the Medicare and Medicaid wording and move them to these programs that are already active (not working well but active) and fix the problems in these. We don't have to blow up the entire sky scraper because there is a water leak on the 93rd floor!

Yes, I know that this is Fox News but the information in it is real. Can anyone understand anything in this bill and we are supposed to just "pass" this through on the belief that the government understands it all and will work in the best interest of the individual?

Man, this thing has to die a quick death.

I, very seldom, take the time to watch these things but, wow, what an abomination. Hope all of you who want change in Healthcare listen to this and then, read the bill. As for me, I just want to keep my BCBS, pay the outrageous premiums, and sleep well at night knowing I have the best Healthcare in the Universe.

You make too much sense. I am sure you will be told that it is just that right wing Fox biased reporting.

The problem is, Obama and the dems talk about the unisured, losing coverage when someone loses a job (of course if the would put more effort in to getting people back to work faster, rather than government programs, that would be less of an issue), and those that are denied coverage. All things that should be addressed. But there are many good proposals that have surfaced to address these without a 1,000 page bill. But Obama and the dems do not want to fix the problems, they want to change the system and move it to socialized government controlled healthcare.

I agree with you that it is totally incomprehensible. So I often wonder how those that embrace it, as well as those who are totally dead set against it can know what is says. We're left to rely on pundits, and who knows whether they know either.

The sad new is that every piece of new legislation is like this. They cross reference other acts, other legislation, etc, until your eyes just cross. Even the lawyers don't agree on what it says. The WSJ guy that is in the video tells Greta Van Stustrand that "this is what it means", but he says "I have a Masters" which I don't think means he has a law degree or specializes in health care.

If you don't understand what it says, how can you know if you are for it or against it?

Until I know and understand what it says, I am against it. How can you be for something you don't understand?

I'm not for it or against it. I'd just like to understand it.

Hound, I have come to learn that you can't trust our federal government or any of it's leaders. Obama claimed "I will not raise taxes on anyone making under $250,000". In this bill (as the snippet discussed somewhat) He is going to raise taxes on everyone to pay for this. 2% of your income will go to the federal government to pay for this to be exact. So again - he lied.

I believe you have answered your own question. You asked if you don't understand what is in the bill how can you support it or not. I believe that since we (or the people that are going to vote on it) don't understand it then how can you support it and say "I don't have a clue what is in this 1500 page bill that is going to affect me and my my families health care, but I trust the government is doing the right thing for me and I will support it"

Again, the government has no programs that it is running efficiently or making a profit on. I believe they know that Medicare and Medicaid is going bankrupt and this is their way of throwing all of those problems away and starting all over with a blank check book. Once you give any control to the govermnet you will never get it back and it will fail.

You cannot support such madness.

I never said I supported the current bill as written. I am WAITING to see how it is finally amended, and as I understand it, those amendments are still being written. At the same time, I'm not going to waste my time railing about something that I don't yet understand. The majority of people in this country believe health care needs some kind of reform. I believe this as well. Like others here, I don't think it needs a complete overhaul, but adjustments likely need to be made to ensure that all legal citizens have at least basic coverage. One of the things that is off the table, tort reform, is something I feel needs to be addressed.

It's hardly a secret that Medicare and Medicaid are not financially solvent. Perhaps they need to implement a sliding scale of co-pays for seniors.

The truth is, I listen to all sides of the argument, and I still don't know the answer. But, I think it is important to discuss it. Like a lot of people, I don't want to see them in a rush to put something, anything in place. I think Obama and the Hill could take 4 years to work on this and get it right.

uuuhhhhh............if the 'silent majority' stayed silent and waited, then there would be no amendments written and this abomination would pass. Dick Armey had the best quote so far.......if you're going ugly, go ugly early!

people are getting hysterical before understanding what they are hysterical about. It's fine to make your concerns known by contacting your representatives and speaking out at town hall meetings, but the hysteria is all out of proportion.

Ah........Hysteria might not be the precise word to describe the town hall meetings............but, you know .........One woman's hysteria is another woman's empowerment and freedom.............

Hysteria it is -- one man was screaming at the speaker that "he would be judged by God" -- that is hysteria in my book. Screaming is usually a good indicator of hysteria.

worth getting hysterical about. Healthcare is one of them.

Webster would disagree with you on that..........agitated would be a more precise word for what has been shown on tv.........

Hysterical: In a state of uncontrolled panic, anger, or excitement.

Excitement: Definitely
Anger: Yes
Panic: Questionable
Uncontrolled: Not at all.

Would have to meet all conditions to be considered hysterical.
