My wife and I will be at the lake this weekend for our first overnight visit - looking for some good restaurant tips. We love steak, BBQ, fish, etc....looking for a place with a laidback environment, maybe waterfront, maybe some live music? Got any places that are a must for us to check out?
Thanks in advance, josh

We're staying in the Alex City area, not directly on the water. I want to check out as much of the lake as possible, including the Stillwaters/Dadeville side. I was up along 34/Pace's Point area yesterday for work, but I'd like to explore more on that side. So, anywhere is fine, with a preference to the eastern side of the lake.
Thanks!

I prefer casual dining and comfort food when I eat out, so here's my take. I'm sure others will chip in for the more refined options. South of the lake my favorite is Red Hill Cottage. Very basic, but a great home cooked sandwich or meat and veggies. Also, Bubber and Em's makes a good burger. Both are on 229. On the east side, I usually visit Osker's and Niffers. In Alex city, try Big B BBQ. The Mexican restaurants in Eclectic are decent. There are many more, but I visit all of these for a casual meal.

Just on the north side of the 49 bridge (near blue creek marina) is a brand new BBQ joint called Uncle Nicks BBQ. Its on the corner of the 49 bridge and the lake.
Haven't been there yet as its only been open a couple of weeks but will be going soon. Let us know what you think if you make it there.
Enjoy the lake!

Nothing waterfront by boat on East Side, except Frankie's at 280 bridge, but I don't recommend it.
|
Is Frankie's even open?....I heard it was closed down again.

If you are going to be close to the Stillwaters area during dinner time, Poplar Dawg's is the best place for a steak. Also have sandwiches and other offerings. Excellent food and good prices. It's also right across the street from the two local honky tonks. Usually live music as in a band and/or locals doing Karaoke. It's a good time!

Josh, here below is linked a list of restaurants and their descriptions and user reviews on yelp.com.
If you have a smartphone you can download the Yelp app, it's one of my favorites. Extremely handy, especially when you are in a new place.
But even if you wanted to look at the web version below, hopefully it's helpful to you.
Welcome to Lake Martin! I hope you enjoy your trip.

I have never had a bad meal at Oskars. Pretty easy drive from Alex City.
Where are y'all from?

We are exactly 15 miles from our place to the intersection of 22 and 280 in Alex City. Then there is the drive to Dadeville, and you are still a good distance from Oskars.
I have nothing against Oskars, but a round trip for just a good ordinary meal is a bit much. We do go there some times if we are in the area.

I agree. I wouldnt run around to your side of the lake for "an ordinary" meal either. Too dang far.
However, since the OP was in Alex City and mentioned Dadeville, Oskars is a pretty fair place.
It has to be something "extra-ordinary" for me to drive very far. Unless I happen to be in the area on a mission of some sort.
